Taking an online course with the goal of developing a more specific personal style and voice:
It's okay to make ugly work. By trying to do something differently sometimes we discover what we don't want to do. This is the the value in making 'ugly' work. We learn by trying new things, even if we don't like the results.
I'm deep in the ugly work rut right now, and I really needed to hear that.
